Getting Started
From box to a talking, family-aware assistant in about 15 minutes. No account creation before the hardware works, no firmware flashing, no YAML.
What's in the box
- Olsie Hub (plugs into your router)
- One or more Olsie Minis (the speakers you talk to)
- Power supplies, an Ethernet cable, and a claim card with a QR code
Setup
- Unbox and place the Hub near your router.
- Plug in the Hub - Ethernet into the router, then power. Its light breathes white while it starts, steady white when ready (about two minutes).
- Open the Olsie app on your phone. It finds the Hub on your network automatically.
- Scan the claim QR on the claim card (or on the Hub's underside). This pairs the Hub to your household - cryptographically, not with a password you'll forget.
- Name your assistant. "Olsie" is the default wake word; pick what your family will actually say.
- Enrol family voices. Each person reads three short sentences so Olsie knows who is who. Add the kids too - that is how kids mode knows they are kids.
- Place your Minis in rooms, plug them in, and the app adopts them one by one.
That's it. Say the wake word and ask for a timer.
Founders white-glove setup
Early households (our first 25) get the founder version of setup: we come to you, do all of the above in person, and leave a card with a direct phone number. If anything in this guide doesn't match what you see, use the card.
If something doesn't work
- Hub light not turning steady white: check Ethernet first, then power cycle once.
- App can't find the Hub: make sure your phone is on the same Wi-Fi network, not on mobile data.
- Still stuck: status.olsie.ai shows if it's us rather than you.
